Funding of the Harbor of Hope comes directly from state and federal grants and private contributions. Harbor of Hope is a 501c3 non-profit.
• 1880-The Original Harbor of Hope building is constructed in River Bend neighborhood.
• 1984-Harbor of Hope Mission is established as a homeless shelter.
• 2005-Harbor of Hope transitions into an addiction recovery center for drug addicts.
• 2012 July – Harbor of Hope moves into the new location of 803 Lyon street, in the shadow of the Iowa State Capital building.
